Finance Ministry of India on Wednesday September 2, 2015 has extended the last date of Income Tax filing by September 7, 2015. Earlier the deadline was August 31 which was also extended from usual July 31 deadline. There was an official confirmation of it on Twitter handle of Official Account of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
IT department in June notified about new sets of income tax returns form and thus the whole process got delayed.
For those who don’t have filed Income tax yet, this is your last chance to do it to ensure you don’t end up paying your income tax late with penalties.
