To reduce the load on Income tax department staff, we now have the new e-Verification of Income Tax Returns
With the launch of online verification of ITRs, the practice of sending a copy of signed ITR-V paper acknowledgement to office in Bengaluru comes to an end.
Indian Finance Ministry, during the launch of it said “In case a taxpayer is unable to electronically verify the ITR using the EVC for any reason, then, the signed copy of ITR-V may be sent within the specified time of 120 days to CPC Bengaluru by Ordinary post or Speed post.”
Also a taxpayer can verify returns through Internet Banking or via Aadhar based authentication method. Furthermore to avoid rush during last dates of filing, e-filing does exists. These moves by Finance department are to make smooth transition for both taxpayers and IT department.
